April 11 — Nothing important happened

Only important news, summarized by ChatGPT

Every day, I ask ChatGPT to read the top 1,000 trending news articles and summarize only the important ones. No junk news, ever: if nothing important happens, nothing gets posted.

Today we have two articles with a score over 6:

But save your time and attention — both articles are not that important: one is about mass shooting in US and another is a prognosis on future interest rates in the US.

I noticed a big problem with scores — sensationalist articles get much higher scores than they deserve because of their clickbait titles. For example “Coronavirus outbreak” article will get higher score when in reality there was only a slight increase in number of cases.

In the next several days I’m going to work on a couple of fixes:

  1. I’ll start analyzing source quality. Tabloid news should get much lower scores.

  2. Use only article content when assigning scores. Titles are hard to trust.

Thank you for continuing reading while I iron out the kinks!
